I’ve heard that Wilbur has been working away. I haven’t spoken to him recently due to work dragging me out to fix this or that on the days where I’d normally spend a minute or two speaking with my buddy. It has been two weeks since I last met up with him. I wonder how he doing with project No. I wonder how he doing with making extra money and I wonder what he is doing with his debt.

Jason: Wilbur Where are you?

Mabel: Jason, don’t you know that Wilbur went to work early today?

Jason: Hello Mabel, he took off to work early? I was supposed to chat with him about the debt he has and how things are going with all of that.

Mabel: Well, he is working extra hours chopping down those trees for the lumber mill. He’s bringing home some good money too. But I hardly get to see him.

Jason: That must be helping get the debt under control.

Mabel: Yes his extra work is really bringing home the money but why do we need to worry about the debt? I’m on board with getting it under control, but why pay it off entirely?

Jason: Getting it paid off entirely will allow you to put that money you are putting towards the debt to get it under control towards something better, like designer labels or a new and better car.

Mabel: By the way did you convince Wilbur to sell the car and get that beater he is taking to work every day? The guys he works with think he is nuts, what about the status we have in the community?

Jason: If having stuff gets you status, and I don’t think it does, you can easily build up your collection of status symbols once you are out of debt.

Mabel: Why did you convince him to sell the car?

Jason: I didn’t that was his own idea. It was pretty extreme, I have to admit, but it did get rid of a large chunk of your debt as well.

Mabel: Well no more putting these extreme ideas in his head, he even wants me to find a job, I’m busy taking care of junior.

Jason: I think getting an extra job would be good so long as you don’t have extra expenses like day care, which can eat up most of the benefit of that extra income. Get something where you work part-time while Junior is in school.

Mabel: Part time work? I’ve only worked with Wilbur cutting down trees when we were building our dam and lodge. That wasn’t part-time work.

Jason: Sure there are lots of part-time jobs around, just look in the local paper and see what people are advertising for. Maybe you will find something you are good at.

Mabel: Thanks for the idea. There’s Junior’s school bus I have to find that child and get him ont he bus. have a nice day.

Jason: Take care Mabel.

Well, Do you have children? Sometimes if you can find the right part-time job, while the kids are in school or home with one parent, the other can be out working. This can bring in some extra money and help get a family out of debt faster. Just something to consider.
